Judith Fakes Principal– (Ballet, Jazz, Tap, National Character)

Judith undertook her training and exams in England under the direction of BBO examiners, Noleen Balshaw and Peggy Wilson. She was involved in many professional summer shows and pantomimes before moving to Australia in 1972 and teaching with Kay Thompson MBBO at Warradale. In 1978 Mrs Fakes launched her own school, named In Step, which ran until 2001.  The school was incorporated in 2006 and became In Step School of Dance Inc. Judith’s knowledge and expertise is highly regarded and she is renowned throughout the southern area, having taught second and even third generations in families

Shannon Anderson – (Ballet, Jazz, Tap, National Character, Acrobatics)

Shannon Anderson began dancing at the age of 2.5 years at the Victor Harbour branch of In Step In 2001.  The Victor Harbour branch became Fortuna Dance Centre and Shannon remained there to continue her learning. In 2014 Shannon rejoined In Step as a teacher. Shannon has loved studying ballet, jazz, national character, all under the BBO, and an open contemporary syllabus. Her SACE high school studies include Year 12 dance and drama.  Shannon completed the BBO Level 4 Diploma in Ballet in July 2014. Shannon enjoys teaching dance immensely, as well as choreographing competition work.

Gemma Fakes – (Junior Teacher:  Tap)

Gemma Fakes made her first appearance on stage at 18 months old as the baby in the Swan Princess; she has continued dancing ever since.  Gemma has danced previously with the Australian Classical Youth Ballet and STAYG25 productions.  Gemma has been training to be a teacher with In Step throughout 2014 and is looking to undertake her Junior Teachers’ Exam in the near future.

Georgia Van Der Sman  – (Hip Hop)

Georgia started Classical and Jazz at the age of 6 and continued until 13 when she switched to Hip Hop and Contemporary Dance.  Georgia has participated in a Hip Hop Varsity Crew and competed in Battlegrounds and other competitions in South Australia where her crew placed 1st and 2nd.  Georgia was also a part of and choreographed high school musical productions such as “Guys and Dolls” and others.  She also partook in amateur theatre musical productions with STAYG25’s productions of “Camp Rock”, “Footloose” and “High School Musical 2” as an ensemble dancer.  During high school Georgia studied SACE Dance.  After her completion of high school Georgia went on to study dance further and completed her Certificate IV in Full-Time Dance at Gravity Dance Studios in 2015.
